Frequently asked questions

Do I have to get a referral for Physiotherapy?

No not necessarily! Physiotherapists are Professional Clinicians. They are qualified to accurately examine and diagnose conditions affecting the musculo-skeletal system and decide on an appropriate treatment plan. You may need a referral to qualify for an insurance claim, and on occasions it may be necessary for me to contact your GP but this would only ever be with your prior consent.


Can I claim on my insurance?

Beckenham Physiotherapy is registered with all the major insurance companies including BUPA AXA PPP Aviva WPA Standard Life Prudential HSA Benedon Cigna

It is always wise to check with your insurance company first but most policies include Physiotherapy treatment as an outpatient.
Some policies have excesses and some require a GP or Consultant referral.

Many companies will issue you with a claim or authorisation number for treatment which you need to bring along with you on your first visit.

The clinic will send the invoices directly to your insurance company unless they state otherwise.

Treatment fees for insurance claims vary and are slightly more expensive than the above rates.


I have suffered from a personal injury. How do I make a claim?

If you have suffered from an injury associated with an RTA it is likely that your car insurance will advise you how to make a claim. Often the insurance companies use an agent that will sort out all the medical side of any claim.
The clinic is registered with many such agents and is usually asked to provide simple assessment,treatment progress and discharge reports. Invoicing is settled directly with the agent.

If you have suffered from any other type of personal injury it is wise to obtain Legal advice. There are many companies that advertise a 'no win no fee system'. The solicitor will often ask you to obtain an assessment and written quote for treatment which can be provided on request.


I do not have insurance cover.What happens if I need an MRI scan or want to see a Consultant quickly?
The Clinic has negotiated very favourable rates for MRI scans either combined with or without an appointment to see a Consultant at the same visit.
Occasionally it is necessary to have a scan to confirm a diagnosis but this is not common. However,if a scan,or a Specialist opinion is necessary you may not want to have to wait for months to see someone!
I can refer you and you will be guaranteed a swift appointment with a time to suit you. The results of the scan and or Consultant,s opinion will be e-mailed to myself and your GP on the same day as your appointment.
