Frequently asked questions
Do I have to get a referral for treatment?
No not necessarily. Chartered Physiotherapists are professional clinicians. They are qualified to accurately examine and diagnose conditions affecting the musculo-skeletal system and decide on an appropriate treatment plan.
Different Physiotherapists may use a variety of 'approaches' to treatment but these should always be the within their scope of training, expertise and experience. I regularly update my professional portfolio by attending courses and lectures and will always seek to aid return to full health in the shortest possible time frame.
How many treatments will I attend?
My average number of treatment is 4.5 but obviously this varies depending on the problem. I should be able to give you an estimate of a time frame at assessment.
I am committed to patient self help and will never 'over treat'. I will always try to encourage discipline with a home exercise routine and any changes that need to be made regarding ergonomics within the home, sport and hobbies, and the workplace.
I have suffered a personal injury. How do I make a claim?
If your injury was an RTA it is likely that your car insurance will advise you. You may be asked to obtain an assessment and written quote for treatment which can be provided on request.
I do not have insurance cover. What happens if i need a scan or to see a Consultant quickly?
The Clinic has negotiated very favourable rates for MRI scans either combined with or without a Consultant appointment at the same visit. These can be arranged at a time to suit you and the results will be e mailed out to all concerned on the same day.
Occasionally a scan is advised to confirm a diagnosis but this is not common and may be available through your GP. There is likely to be a long wait for this service on the NHS, especially for non urgent cases.
